2.1 Are Those Butterflies?

Not only did I pass my mid-terms, I made Dean’s List.

Relief washed over me.

It was time to celebrate-my way.

Screenshot-51

Why no one was at the beach, I had no idea.

The weather was perfect.

The sun felt warm on my body, and the fresh water cooled it down.

Screenshot-53

I was thoroughly enjoying myself.

Screenshot-54

I found myself reflecting on my young adult life.

In a way, I found myself lonely.

A few of my roommates were probably wrapped in the arms of their boyfriend or girlfriend, while I was here, on the beach, by myself.

To be honest though, no one had ever caught my eye.

I’ve never had a boyfriend.

As evening approached, I gathered my things and headed back to the dorm.

I still had time for one more painting before bedtime.

Screenshot-55

School was going well.

Without any distractions, I was the model student.

I hadn’t really noticed the passing of time.

It wasn’t until I was sitting in my favorite spot by the pond that I felt the crisp autumn air, and realized that the leaves I stare at everyday had changed colors.

Screenshot

Perhaps I  was  spending too much time studying…

Screenshot-2

The next day the teacher called me to the front of the class.

“Ms. Bianca, can you please draw a comparison chart of what mediums you would use on heavy weight paper.”

I nervously approached the billboard.

Although I thought this was basic information, my classmates eagerly listened to me.

Screenshot-71

The days were getting shorter and I exited class, evening was fast approaching.

I wouldn’t have time to walk to my spot by the pond for  today’s sketch.

I decided to walk across the lawn to the small water feature.

It was inspiring enough.

I took out my paper and got lost somewhere between my paper and pencil.

It was no surprise that when I heard a voice say ‘I like your drawing”, that I jumped.

Screenshot-4

I turned around to see who was speaking to me.

There was a( rather cute) young man standing behind me.

I blushed.

He held out a hand as to help me up.

“I’m sorry”, he said. “I didn’t mean to startle you.”

I took his hand and stood up.

“It’s ok. I get lost in my work sometimes.”

Screenshot-6

We introduced.

His name was Jeff, and he was definitely cute.

We tried talking.

He was from Hidden Springs.

A Science Major.

The guitar player was quite loud though, and it was getting late.

Screenshot-5

“Can we meet-” we both said at the same time.

“Tomorrow?” he asked. “At the coffee shop?”

“Sounds perfect.”

Screenshot-10 (2)

I may have skipped back to the dorm, like a little girl.

For the first time in my life, I think I had butterflies.

I was thinking about his eyes and adorable freckles.

I couldn’t wait for tomorrow.

Of course it was Wednesday, and it seemed all my professors were extra long-winded.

Hurry up! I HAVE A DATE!!!

Finally classes were over.

I ran to the coffee shop.

I managed to walk in, just as it started to drizzle outside.

I looked around and spotted Jeff on a small couch in the back corner.

“Hi.” he said as I sat down.

He seemed nervous.

“Hi.” I replied.

I was nervous.

Screenshot-12

The aroma of coffee beans was relaxing.

“It is much more quiet here.” I observed.

“Ye, it is. And well lit…you are stunning…” he said, almost whispering.

“Thank you.” I said. “You are quite handsome yourself.”

We quickly went back to small talk.

I told him about my family, about my love of art, and my adoration of cats.

“I love cats” he said.

“Really?!”

Screenshot-13

“Yes, I have two at home, I really miss them.”

“So, do you have a girlfriend at home too?”

“Me?! No. Girls don’t really talk to me. I still trying to figure out if I’m dreaming right now.”

I teasingly pinched him.

We sat and talked until closing time.

As we walked outside, Jeff opened an umbrella and we stood underneath it.

I really wanted to kiss him…but it was only pretty much our first date.

I looked down instead.

“Thank you for the nice evening.” I said. “Can we meet again?”

“Yes. I’d like that.”

He offered to escort me back to the dorm.

We walked in silence, only the sound of rain around us.

We might not have kissed that night, but we held hands all the way to my dorm.

We meet at the coffee shop every night that week.

By Saturday, I couldn’t resist any more.

He was on a tangent about suspicious plant matter, and I  was staring at his lips.

I leaned over and kissed him.

Screenshot-14

Twice.

We both blushed.

It was my first kiss, and apparently his.

We kissed a few more times…

The barista came over and said “Y’all are going to have to take the lip party somewhere else.”

We laughed and got up.

One more kiss, for good measure.

Screenshot-16

I didn’t hear from him on Sunday.

I couldn’t believe how sad that made me.

Screenshot-20

I found him in the park Monday.

He was headed to class.

“You want to come over after class?” I asked.

Screenshot-21

“Sounds like a date.”

He came over.

We mainly cuddled on the bed.

Screenshot-23

Although neither of us were ready to take our relationship to that level yet, I had a brilliant idea of something fun to do.

Screenshot-25

And there was some kissing too…

Screenshot-26

I felt wonderful.

Screenshot-29

I was a day away from completing my degree.

Finals were bittersweet for me.

I thought Jeff and I were in love, but he got really quiet whenever I tried to ask about our future together.

I was beginning to have my doubts.

I took my tests confidently, and as the sun set that Friday, so it was my last day as a student at Sims University.

Ok. Here is a bonus picture. Although this picture looks kind of silly in the story, I can’t help but share it. It really cracks me up.

Thank you for reading! 🙂

2.0 Lessons Learned

The drive seemed like it was taking forever.

I looked out the taxi window just in time to see a sign for Sim’s University.

We were getting close.

The taxi driver took the next exit.

I started to feel dizzy.

To be honest, I was on an emotional overload.

Excited one second, nervous the next. Ambitious. Scared. Homesick…homesick?!?

The taxi came to a stop in front of the dorms.

“All ashore who’s going ashore.” the driver chuckled.

I sighed. “I guess that would be me.”

I paid my fair and got my luggage.

Screenshot-13

Am I really here?

I hid behind the dorm’s bulletin board.

I watched as fellow students arrived. They all seemed nervous too.

Screenshot-14

I can do this!

I walked into the foyer.

Fresh paint and PineSol filled the air.

I took out the piece of paper with my room number on it.

I found my room and sat my stuff down.

Courageousness took a hold of me.

Unpacking can wait, there are new people to meet!

Screenshot-15

I mingled a little inside, then stepped outside to the backyard.

“Hey! Wanna pick up that paddle? We got time for a quick game.”

I had never played Ping Pong before…but I was a natural!

Screenshot-16

I was eager to get to the Student Union building to check out my class schedule, so after a promise to continue, I headed out.

As I walked through the door, I was almost attacked by a llama!

Screenshot-18

“My apologies!” the school mascot said.

“No worries.”

I walked over to the Art Major’s table.

A lady stood up.

“Hi, and welcome. I am Professor Tabitha.”
“Hi. I am Bianca Bluebeard.”

Screenshot-20

Ah, Bianca. I recall your art submission for enrollment. I look forward to working with you.”

“Thank you, Professor. I am ready to learn.” We chuckled.

I am such a dork!

She handed me my schedule.

Wow. Why did I sign up for this many credits this term?!?

I hope I am ready…

The first day of class was a rainy one.

The fragrant smell of  wet grass greeted me as I was running to class.

Screenshot-26

It was still raining as I ran to my second and third class.

Screenshot-28

By the time the day was done, it had finally stopped raining, which is good because I was too tired to run back to the dorm.

Screenshot

The next day was lecture day.

I did my best to stay awake.

Screenshot-4

Some of my classmates were not as successful.

Screenshot-5

The rest of my day was free.

I found a nice quiet spot by the pond and got out my sketch book.

Screenshot-6

It was so relaxing and peaceful.

I drew until my hand and fingers cramped up.

Then I found a chair and pulled out a book. It was definitely too nice to go back to the dorm.

Screenshot-8

Wednesday was another day crammed with classes.

Then came Thursday. Another beautiful day, and we had class outside.

Screenshot-34

That evening I ventured out.

I found a little pub with a stage and a guitar.

Screenshot-33

***

I quickly got into a routine.

Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays were pretty busy.

Tuesdays, I relaxed by the pond.

Thursdays I went and played guitar.

Time was going by so quickly, mid-term finals were next week!

I felt confident that I was going to ace my tests.

For  whatever reason, a few classmates decided to throw a party the night before finals, and I was invited.

Screenshot-29

The attire was swimwear.

Screenshot-36

There was no pool.

I shrugged it off and grabbed a drink.

Screenshot-38

And another and another.

Then my memory gets fuzzy…

Screenshot-45

I may have drank too much.

Screenshot-46

The next morning I found myself on a couch.

My head hurt.

The alarm on my cell was going off.

That only meant one thing.

It was time for finals.

I stumbled to get ready and made it to class just in time.

I sat at the desk.

My head was pounding.

The Professor looked at me sternly as she handed me my test.

I looked at the paper and the word blurred together.

I did my best and hurried to the next class, grabbing a bit to eat out of a vending machine.

I finished test two.

The Professor stopped me after class and thanked me for being such a good student.

Screenshot-47

I felt horrible, and hoped my breath didn’t still smell like it tasted.

One last test.

I was beyond exhausted.

Screenshot-48

I finished.

Now to make it to my bed.

I slept most of Saturday.

I am never drinking again!

I was about to enjoy a nice salad when I heard my name.

“Bianca Bluebeard. Here is your report card.”

I was scared to look.

I opened the envelope.

Took out the paper.

And………

1.9 Leaving the Nest

“I’ll do it.”

Bianca stood proudly.

Victoria and Victor seemed relieved.

“Are you sure?” Pandora asked Bianca.

“Yes. Victoria and Victor already have a plan for their futures.” Bianca replied.

“Don’t do make this decision to make them happy, sweetheart.”

Screenshot-11“It isn’t a chore. You are asking me to live in this house, pass it on to my children, make sure they pass it on to one of their children, and take care of you and Dad when you get older. It is what I want to do, what I would do.”

Screenshot-12

Pandora’s eyes gleamed. “You are a wonderful daughter.”

“Thank you. I do have one request. I want to go to college first to study art.”

“Are you serious? Request granted. You can go to college first.”

Screenshot-13

***

Victoria was spending more and more time with Fausto.

Screenshot-107

In fact, you could say we were all spending more time with Fausto.

It seemed he was always at our house.

The more time he spent with us though, the more we started noticing that he was changing.

He was starting to look…..different.

Screenshot-114

***

It was no illusion, Victor was in love with Sandra.

One evening she came to visit with some great news.

Her mother, and my first friend (that I remember), Jasmine, had accepted a transfer to the salon in Sunset Valley!

The Plum house had purchased a nice spacious house, perfect for a growing family.

Victor was more than pleased about the news.

Screenshot-119

To celebrate, Victor got down on his knee.

Screenshot-120And proposed to Sandra.

Screenshot-121

To no surprise, she said yes.

Screenshot-122

***

Victoria had been doing a lot of research, and apparently was on to something with Fausto.

“Fausto. I think Maria has a spell on you.”

Screenshot

“Will you please let me try something?”she asked.

“Yes.” he said somewhat hesitantly.

She began to try to undo Maria’s spell.

Screenshot-3

Maria’s spell was strong, but Victoria’s love was stronger.

Screenshot-4

Victoria had succeed.

Screenshot-5

A few days later, they went to the park, where they met, and exchanged vows.

Screenshot-16

Apparently Maria expired shortly after, of extreme old age.

Victoria and Fausto found a cute house, and began their lives together.

***

Victor and Sandra also exchanged vows.

They had a private ceremony.

I guess it was what they wanted.

They moved in with Jasmine.

Like me, she was getting older, and Sandra promised to look after her parents in old age, much like Bianca.

***

I would say the house was quiet, with only Pandora, Bianca and me…

but Bianca loved to practice the guitar.

A lot.

Screenshot-11 (2)

My ears were thankful that she liked to paint as well.

***

It was the final days of winter.

Bianca received her aptitude test in the mail for spring semester.

Screenshot-6

She nervously mailed back her test and awaited an acceptance letter.

***

On the day her letter arrived, she was in town.

She had run into a changing Victoria.

Screenshot-8

They had a few laughs.

Screenshot-9

And Bianca congratulated her sister, and told her how excited she was to be an aunt.

Screenshot-10

When Bianca returned home, I was in the living room.

I was sitting on the couch.

The letter from Sims University was on my lap.

“Bianca”, I called.

“Yes, father.”

“You got something in the mail today.”

Her eyes lit up.

I handed her the envelope.

She opened it.

“I got accepted!” she squealed.

“I never had a doubt. Are you sure you’re ready to go?”

I wasn’t ready for her to go.

“Yes, Dad.” She hugged me. “Thank you.”

“When are you going to go?”

She blushed. “As long as it takes for a taxi to come get me.”

I couldn’t help but laugh.

“I love you, kid. You go pack, I’ll call your taxi.”

Why are taxi’s so quick when you don’t want them to be?

Screenshot-12

The house was empty.

Our birds had left the nest.

At least Bianca would be back soon.

1.8 Crow’s Feet and Catfood

The choice was unanimous.

We all loved the house on the hill.

Screenshot-65

Samantha helped us make the move easier.

Once we got to the new house she hugged us and told us she was only a few blocks away, if we needed anything.

Screenshot-66

Apparently we had some extremely rare gem spires at our house in Lucky Palms that sold for over $38,000 each!

I had no idea! Between selling the three gems and our house in the desert, we were off to a great start in our new town.

Our favorite place was the pond and gazebo.

Whether it was fishing,

Screenshot-67

reading a good book,

Screenshot-6

being inspired to paint,

Screenshot-2

Screenshot-7

or joining the bullfrogs in an evening melody,

Screenshot-53

it was always the place to relax.

***

I really enjoyed the diner I was working at.

(At first glance, it looked a bit dreary, but it must have just been the weather.)

It was a replica of a boat discovered in the bay 10 years ago.

Screenshot-10

***

After about a month in the new house, the girls heard a noise outside.

Meew. Meew. Meeeew.”

Screenshot-21

They both ran outside to investigate.

The “Meew’s” were replaced with “Awe’s”.

Screenshot-22

Followed only by “Daddy, can we keep him? Pleeeaassee?”

“You know that cute little kitten is going to turn into a cat, right?” I asked, half jokingly.

Screenshot-23

“Of course, Daddy.” Bianca chuckled.

I am such a sucker.

“Yes, you can keep him. But he is your responsibility.”

“Yay! Thank you!!!”

I’ll admit, he was pretty dang cute.

Especially when he played in the big fish.

Screenshot-27

And Bianca took excellent care of him.

“Who’s a good kitty? Corwin is a good kitty!”

Screenshot-28

Screenshot-29

***

Before I knew it Victoria Graduated High School.

She was now a beautiful young lady.

Screenshot-30

It was a perfect day for a summer festival.

Of all things to participate in, Victoria joins a hot dog eating contest.

Screenshot-31

And won.

Screenshot-32

She then decided to congratulate the 2nd place winner, Fausto.

Screenshot-34

By giving him her phone number.

Screenshot-35

***

My children were getting older.

And so was I.

I don’t think I will ever forget the day I actually noticed my crow’s feet.Screenshot-37

I pretended they weren’t there.

Pretend as I might, I guess it really got me down.

“What’s the matter Marcus?”

Screenshot-38

“I guess age is really sneaking up on me.”

“Oh, Marcus. I understand.”

Screenshot-39

“Look at me. I am not getting any younger, either. You are still dashingly handsome, though.” Pandora flirted.

Screenshot-45

“Our second child is about to become a young man, but he still has the hottest mom around!” I flirted back.

“You think so?”

“I know so.”

Screenshot-44

***

And so it was, Victor was a young man.

I came home one evening to find him giving flowers to a young lady that looked very familiar.

Screenshot-48

“Victor? Was that Jasmine’s daughter, Sandra?” I asked after she left.

Screenshot-49

He seemed unnecessarily embarrassed. “Yes, father. I hope you aren’t upset with me.”

“Upset? Why would I be upset?”

“Um…because she is a little older than me?”

“Don’t be silly Victor. How long have you been dating?”Screenshot-50

“Well, I think I had a crush on her when we lived in Lucky Palms, but now…now, I love her.”

“Victor. I am very happy for you.”

***

Victor’s dream was to become a magician. He had grown up around witches, and although he had no “magic powers” of his own, he was incredibly talented.

Screenshot-58

Bianca was so supportive and went to many of his “gigs”.

Screenshot-59

When he got his Magic Box, Pandora let him practice with her…

Screenshot-63

A few sword pricks on her legs…

Screenshot-64

..and it was a long time before she got in the box again.

Screenshot-066

He got much better and often drew a crowd.

Screenshot-067

Screenshot-068

Screenshot-68

Screenshot-070

***

It was an ordinary day.

I went to the pet store to pick up some catfood for Corwin.

“John? Is that you?” the lady behind the counter asked me.

Screenshot-83

“No, you must be mistaken. My name is Marcus.”

“I’m quite sure I’m not mistaken. I never forget the way someone smells.”

Did she just say ‘smells?’

“My name is Agnes. I’ve lived in the valley….a long time.”Screenshot-85

“You see, Marcus, I used to have a friend named John. John Plumbob. He was an amazing scientist, he was working on a ‘Breakthrough’, but it was a secret.”Screenshot-86

“Then one night there was a horrible fire. His house and belongings demolished in the flames. Everyone assumed John burned with it, but I know-his body was never found.”

Screenshot-88

“How long ago was did that happen?”

“It’s been about 30 years. I searched for my friend for 5 years…”

For some reason I felt compelled to tell her about my life as I remember it…waking up in Lucky Palms with no recollection of who I was.

I had no idea how close her and “John” were, but I made sure to mention my beautiful wife and children.

She listened intently.

When I was finished she said,”Your- I mean, John’s, house was next to the waterfall. Maybe going there will help jog your memory.”

Screenshot-91

“Thank you. I might just do that. It was nice to talk to you.”

“It was nice to see you again. I am glad you are happy, and look forward to seeing you again.”

Screenshot-94

I got in the car and headed for the waterfall.

It started to sprinkle.

Even so, the waterfall was majestic.

Screenshot-96

I stood there for a while, but nothing came to me.

No rush of memories.

Nothing.

 I was about to leave.

Screenshot-97

And that’s when I saw it.

A rusty old telescope.

I was curious.

I looked through it.

Screenshot-99

I turned the telescope through a clearing in the clouds. The stars were amazing.

Screenshot-100

What is that?

I zoomed in.

Screenshot-101

Chills went through my entire body.

Every strand of hair stood on end.

“That’s enough, human.”

Screenshot-102

I turned around.

There was no one around.

I was alone.

But I heard the warning.

I got in my car and looked at the clock.

Pandora was almost done at work. I needed to talk to her.

I drove to the park and waited for her.

When she saw me she immediately knew something was wrong.

I told her everything and her face grew pale.

“Come, let’s look in the crystal ball.”

Screenshot-105

“Marcus, this isn’t good. Please. Leave your past alone. Nothing good will come of searching.”

Her words confirmed my gut.

I took a deep breath. “Let’s go home.”

That night I had a horrible nightmare.

Screenshot-110

***

Although my past kept nagging my mind, the warnings were clear enough for me.

With Bianca about to graduate, I felt old age within my grasp.

It was time to have a sit down with the kids.

Screenshot-72

Screenshot-73

I began. “As we all know, your mother and I are getting older. You are all three equally special to us, and we are so proud of all of you.”

“We want to talk to you today about our future.” Pandora jokingly added.

“While I know you all have this you want to accomplish in life, I want one of you to commit to fulfilling your dreams here.” I said.

“We want to pass this house down to one of you, and your children’s children children.” said Pandora.

“I’ll do it.”

1.7 Fresh Dirt

Pandora came back around quickly.

I helped her and our guest Samantha inside, and made everyone some hot chocolate.

It was silent as we drank.

Pandora gathered our cups and put them in the sink.

Samantha followed her to the kitchen.

“I’m so sorry, Pandora.”she said.

Screenshot-10

“Your parents loved you very much.”she continued.

“How do you know? I’ve been gone for 25 years!”

Screenshot-13 (2)

“I know, Pandora…I visited Sunset Valley about 5 years ago. I stopped by your parents house. That’s when your mother begged me to try to find you. She-they- felt so horrible for making you feel like you had to run away.”

“They didn’t make any sense! They were hypocrites. For crying out loud, my father was turned into a vampire, some of my bothers and sisters were vampires. They loved them. Why was I so different?!”

Screenshot-12 (2)

“You don’t know how frightened they were of being vampires, do you? They spent a lot of money looking for a cure. So when you showed your gift, they were confused, and scared. They were scared for you.”

“So, why make me feel like there was something wrong with me? Like I was a freak?”

Screenshot-14 (2)

“People do things they regret, especially to those they love. Listen, I know this is hard for you. I went through the same thing, only no one ever tried to look for me. I only wish I would have found you before the accident.”

Tears engulfed Pandora’s eyes. Childhood memories of her parents, good memories, rushed through her.  Perhaps her parents were not the only ones that had regrets.

“If you would like to attend the funeral, it is in 2 days.”

“I would like that.”

***

The weather was beautiful.

The occasion was not.

Pandora tried to stay strong, but she wept.

She wept for her past, and she wept for her future.

She wept for the missed opportunity her parents had of seeing her happy.

Screenshot-22 (2)

Bianca comforted her mother. She realized then. how lucky she was to have such an understanding family.

She was glad to be there with her mother.

Screenshot-23 (2)

Victoria and Victor were sad they didn’t have the chance to meet their grandparents.

Samantha grieved for her loss as well.

Screenshot-21 (2)

While the timing was unfortunate, Pandora was glad to have Samantha in her life.

Screenshot-24 (2)

A conversation started after the service.

“There is something else I need to tell you, Pandora.” Samantha said.

“Ok….”

“It’s about your inheritance. How happy is your family with Lucky Palms?”

Screenshot-26

“I don’t know, we’ve been having problems. The children are having a hard time being accepted in school.  Jasmine and her family are our only friends.”

“You know, Sunset Valley has changed. A lot. I actually manage a potions consignment shop…I’m sorry, I got off point. There are two houses here, in the valley that your parents own. Their wish was, if I were to find you, that you, and of course your family, choose one to call yours.

“Really? I don’t know what to say. I will have to talk to Marcus about this.”

Screenshot-25

“Of course. Take as much time as you need.”

***

Samantha arranged for her real estate friend to show us around the houses.

We meet at the first address.

A beautiful Victorian house and a friendly face awaited.

“Hi, My name is Jessica. I can’t wait to show you around.”

Screenshot-54

The house was awesome.

4 bedrooms, 3 baths, an amazing kitchen, study, garage, and a pond with a Gazebo and an incredible view.

Both houses were more than I ever expected.

Now to make some choices.

Do we leave Lucky Palms?

And if we do, which stunning house should we choose?

***

It was still snowing in Lucky Palms.

Victoria and Victor were to attend Prom.

Outside the school their peers tormented them.

“What’s the matter, Witch? Couldn’t get a real date, so you brought your brother?”

Screenshot-8

“Let’s just go home.” Victor said.

Victoria sighed. “Ok, it’s Bianca’s birthday anyway.”

So, we all welcomed Bianca into teenager-hood.

Screenshot-10 (2)

The next morning the children were getting ready for school.

Screenshot-14

“Good morning” I said.

They replied in unison.

“After you all get dressed Your mother and I would like to talk to you.”

They agreed and hurried to get ready.

Pandora and I got the pictures of the houses out and on the table.

Screenshot-64

“As you are probably aware, we have the opportunity to move to Sunset Valley. So, first question on the table is, Do you all want to move?’

“Yes.”said Victoria. “I don’t want Bianca to have to go through High School the way I did.”

“Yes” said Victor. “I would like to be able to make new friends.”

“Yes,”said Bianca. “Actually, I’m fine wherever my family is.”

Pandora and I smiled.

That was easy.

“Now, that is settled, these are the two houses we can choose from.”

The teens looked at the pictures carefully.

“This one” they all agreed.

1.6 At The Gate

Pandora had been extremely snippy since the night she read her fortune.

One evening I decided to confront her about her behavior.

“Pandora, will you please tell me what is going on?”

Screenshot-74

She seemed angry at first, then she sighed, “I’m scared Marcus. I have been trying to figure out what my reading meant…what it could mean.”

“What did it say? Maybe I can help.”

“Do you really want to know?”

Screenshot-75

“Of course. I’m here to help you, through anything.”

A mother of three, is only you shall be. Watch for family at the gate, with news not great.”

Marcus repeated the verse to himself a few times.

“Ok. I think I have the first part, we have three children, so I guess that means we won’t be having anymore.”

Pandora’s eyes started to water. “Yes, that’s what I think.”

I know we discussed having more children, she wanted five…

I grabbed her into a kiss.

Screenshot-77

“You are an excellent mother to three healthy children. If that’s the way it’s meant to be, then let’s be happy with that.”

“You’re right…..”

“Now what concerns me the most is the second part. I thought we were your only family.”

“I haven’t spoken to my parents since I was 16…we…parted ways. No one knows where I am…or where I’ve been.”

“I see why you have been so troubled. Don’t worry, my love. I am here for you.”

“Thank you. I feel better already. How about some more kisses?”

***

Victoria was still having trouble at school.

One rainy day, her class went on a field trip.

The girls taunted her. “Where is your umbrella, witch?”

“What are you talking about?! It’s only water…” she replied.

Screenshot-71

“Everyone knows witches melt in water. You better hurry up and get inside.” they continued.

“That’s enough, girls.” Mr. Marlin scolded. “We all need to get inside, hurry up now.”

“After you, Victoria, we don’t want you to hex us or whatever.”

Screenshot-72

Victor was indifferent about his birthday.

Screenshot-87

Indifferent about his cake.

Screenshot-88

And indifferent about becoming a teenager.

Screenshot-92

Such a quiet young man.

***

The next day was Spooky Day, and Bianca’s birthday.

“Make a wish sweetheart!”

Screenshot-93

Screenshot-97

Doesn’t she look so cute in her costume?

Screenshot-96

Victoria offered to take Bianca trick-or-treating.

Screenshot-95

But after going to Jasmine’s house, they decided it was too cold and wet to go anywhere else.

***

Having two teens in the house was starting to prove stressful.

Is that a coy smile on Victoria as the sink explodes in my face? I think it is.

Screenshot-8

Then there was the night Victor sneaked out and visited Jasmine’s house.

Screenshot-16

Screenshot-17

Screenshot-19

“SERIOUSLY, VICTOR?!? WHAT WHERE YOU THINKING?” Pandora scolded. “Jasmine and her family are our friends.”

Screenshot-20

“Mom, I am so sorry. The guys at school dared me to do it.”

Screenshot-22

“Dared you? Are you that easy to manipulate? Victor. I am very disappointed in you.”

“I know Mom. I was just trying to fit in. Everyone has been giving me such a hard time, being the brother of a witch.”

Pandora thought about that.

Screenshot-23

She sighed. “I understand Victor. But we are your family. Both of your sisters have a gift. I know it might not seem like it now, but it is. You should support them, and love them for who they are.”

“Yes Mom. I do love my sisters, and my family.

Screenshot-24

“Now go inside. You’re still grounded, and tomorrow, you will go apologize to Jasmine.”

“Yes ma’am.”

***

Winter came quickly.

Snow covered the ground.

Although cold, it was beautiful.

One morning, I was looking out the window enjoying the sight, when I saw someone, how do I put this…enter my yard.

Screenshot

“Pandora…I think someone might be here for you.”

“What makes you say that?” she asked as she walked over to the coat rack.

“Just a hunch….”

The mysterious lady stood at our gate.

Screenshot-2 (2)

Pandora and I looked at each other.

“Family at the gate…news not so great…” Pandora whispered.

“I’m right here, if you need me.”

Pandora walked out to greet the visitor.

“Hello Pandora.” the woman said.

“Hi. Hello…do I know you?”

Screenshot-3 (2)

“Unfortunately not, dear. I am your Aunt Samantha.”

Screenshot-4 (2)

“I didn’t know I had an aunt…”

“I know, such a shame. I am your mother’s sister. I don’t think the family talked about me much.”

“No, I’m sorry.”

“I ran away when I was 16, just like you, when my powers became apparent.”

“Wow…..I never knew….how-how did you find me?”

“That’s easy. I’m a witch.” she chuckled. “But the reason I found you, is no laughing matter.”

Pandora’s heart was beating so fast.

“I’ve come to tell you, your parents are dead.”

Screenshot-6 (2)

And that’s when Pandora fainted.

1.5 Hairy Nose Warts

So far the highlight of my new life has definitely been the children that Pandora and I have made.

Victor was now a toddler, and try as he might, he just can’t make his car do tricks, like Victoria.

Screenshot-27

I am still the only one working, and money is very tight.

But sometimes you realize in life, there are things money can’t buy.

Like time spent with the ones you love.

Screenshot-29

I have also come to the conclusion that when you are spending time with the people you love, time goes by too quickly.

Screenshot-34

“Hi there, princess”, I told Victoria. “Wait here in the hall for a minute, I have a surprise for you.”

Screenshot-37

Victoria opened the door to her room.

“Oh my goodness, Daddy! Thank you so much! I love it!!! How did you know my FAVORITE color is pink?”

Screenshot-36

Life was great. We had two perfect, beautiful children. I was getting along well at the Bistro.

And then…

SURPRISE! Looks like we are going to add one more baby to the mix.

Screenshot-41

Victoria was somewhat excited. She was worried that I we wouldn’t have enough love for her, Victor, and a new baby.

“Victoria, these are things you shouldn’t worry about.”

I tucked her in and read her one of her favorite books.

Screenshot-43

Screenshot-44

Screenshot-45

Good night Sweetheart.

***

Victor was a quiet child, most of the time.

Unlike Victoria, who usually had a friend over, Victor preferred to play by himself.

Screenshot-5

But he got good grades, and gave great hugs, so I wasn’t too worried about him.

***

You would think by the third child I would be better prepared.

No.

I still freaked out.

Screenshot-2

I would like to introduce you to Bianca.

Screenshot-3

***

I signed Victoria up for after school ballet class.

Being my first princess, I figured she would love it.

I got home early one evening, and saw that Pandora was a little busy with Bianca.

“Hey, I think I’m going to go to the school a little early and watch Victoria practice.”

“Ok.”

I headed over to the school, went into the stadium and sat on the bleachers. There were moving pink tutus everywhere.

But no Victoria.

I panicked.

Calm down, she is probably just in the bathroom.

I went to the instructor.

“Where is Victoria?”

She turned a little red. “Victoria had a little fall. She is ok, but the girls were a little harsh on her. She said she needed some fresh air, and went out back.”

She pointed to the rear entrance.

I walked outside and heard a ball bouncing.

Screenshot-4

It was a perfect three point shot.

She heard my footsteps, and her shoulders dropped.

“Am I in trouble?”she asked.

Puzzled, I asked,”Should you be?”

“I don’t know Daddy. I’ve had a pretty bad day. Some of the girls grabbed my backpack from me, and my wand fell out. So now, everyone hates me because I’m a witch and Leslie tripped me during class, and I started crying, and I’m just so embarrassed.” She was sobbing.

I felt bad for her.

“Look sweetheart, it’s ok that you are different. The other kids just might not understand.”

“They asked me when I was going to grow a hairy wart on my nose. Am I? Am I going to grow a hairy wart on my nose?”

“No, of course not! Well, at least not just because your witch powers. Your mother doesn’t have a wart on her nose.”

“Well, I guess you’re right.”

I gave her a big Daddy hug. “I know this is hard for you. Let’s go home and you can ask the expert what to do.”

“Ok.”

***

Bianca was growing, as children do, and the poor girl looks just like her handsome Daddy.

Screenshot-7

Victoria decided to drop out of ballet.

She didn’t invite ‘friends’ over anymore, instead she spent a lot of time with Pandora and Victor.

Screenshot-49

Then it was her birthday.

Screenshot-52

I know have a beautiful teenager daughter in my house.

Screenshot-54

***

Bianca has inherited Pandora’s gift as well.

Screenshot-46

Screenshot-47

Screenshot-48

***

The weather was wonderful.

Victor and I were outside having a water balloon fight.

Screenshot-9

Inside, Victoria and Pandora were having a discussion.

“Mom, why don’t you use your powers anymore?”

Screenshot-56

“Well, I guess, I’ve just been so busy being a mother, I don’t think about them that much. I used to be a fortune-teller, you know.”

“Yes. Dad told me. He said it was your fortune that brought you two together.”

Pandora reminisced.

“Mom, I’m old enough to watch Victor and Bianca after school…why don’t you go back to work?”

Screenshot-57

“Really?” Pandora was a little curious. “What’s in it for you?”

“Well, I was hoping that maybe you could teach me.”

Pandora hugged her daughter. “I would love to. Thank you for your offer. I’ll talk to you father about it and see what he says.”

Of course I thought it was a great idea. The extra income would be nice, but most importantly, Pandora would be able to something else she was really good at.

She went to the park to clean up the caravan, and brush up her crystal ball.

That evening, her fortune did not go well….

Zeus Simopolis-Log 3

After I told Zelda about the land I saw, we went together and looked at it. She took a deep breath of the cool, fresh air and smiled.

“It’s perfect. I have always wanted to live near the ocean.” Zelda said.

I told her that I called the realtor about the purchase, and well, to be honest, it was very expensive. I was moving rapidly in my career, but we would have to sell almost all of our belongings and start over. We would have to add-on when we can, and painting probably wouldn’t be a priority.

Zelda didn’t care. She already could envision the beautiful garden she could grow! She looked at the beautiful (big) houses around us, looked at me and said,”I’m up for the challenge!”

So, we sold our things, and built a very small home. I was a bit nervous. We had two small boys. Antonis was a toddler now, and Leonidas was just born. But, Zelda was supportive and told me everything was perfect.

We took the boys out to see the beautiful view.

I didn’t really believe anyone when they said babies grow up fast! We were already celebrating Leonidas turning into a toddler! It was a lot of fun having the boys!

We were busy. I was doing well in my career, Zelda was being an excellent mother, and we still had time to spend together.

I was taking as many jobs as I could handle. I was eager to advance in my career.

I was working so hard, I missed not only Antonis birthday,

but Leonidas’ too…

I was happy, however, that now the boys were in school, Zelda found time to play her guitar in the park. People tip pretty well when you are good, and being pregnant doesn’t hurt either!

We had a beautiful little girl. We named her Persephonie. She had Zelda’s blonde hair, and like the boys, my blue eyes. She was my little angel.

My family was growing so nicely. I hope my father would be proud! I was interviewing a client by the book store when My phone started ringing,

I rushed home to find Zelda in labor.

And welcomed my Little Fotini to the world!

Life was going very well for our family. We were broke of course. It seemed every time We had money come in, it went out just as quickly.

It was birthday time at the Simopolis household. Antonis was becoming a teen,

My Persephonie was turning into a child,

And Fotini turned into a toddler. She was our first child to have Zelda’s big brown eyes.

Antonis was a wonderful teenager. He noticed how the outside of our house was still unpainted, and that we still needed a few counters. So he took it upon himself to get a part-time job at the book store. We agreed, as long as his grades did not drop.

I finally reached the top of the Investigator career. I got my final promotion on a Monday, so I will finish the week out seeing how I will get paid $2,900 on Sunday, and then I think I’m going to try a new career in Ghost Busting. I had a few close encounters while on a stake out in the graveyard, and my curiosity was peaked.

Oh, and my Zelda is expecting our 5th child.

Zeus Simopolis-Log 2

Being able to make my own hours, I took Sunday morning off to straighten up the house.

Then, I called Zelda and asked her to come over.

She said she would be at my house in a minute.

When Zelda arrived, she looked a little tense.

“What’s the matter?’ I asked.

“Just a rough week at work. Pauline is giving us all hell. Something about Hank cheating…blah blah blah. She doesn’t even love him. I’m sorry. I don’t even care, I don’t expect you to have to worry about this too.” Zelda replied.

“That’s what I’m here for. I will always be here to listen to anything you want to talk about.” I said. “Here, let me help loosen you up.”

“You are very good at that”. She sighed.

“I’m also a great kisser…”

“I don’t believe you. Maybe you should show me.” Zelda whispered.

“You’re right. You are a great kisser. I might have to conduct a more thorough test though…”

“That can be arranged.” I said slyly.

And it was arranged! I was definatly falling in love with Zelda Mae!!!

After spending the evening together, I went out on a limb and tried my luck-

“Zelda Mae, would you do me the honor of being my girlfriend?”I said, holding my breath as I waited for her answer.

“I would love to be your girlfriend!” Zelda replied.

We have been spending a lot of time together. Zelda even found herself spending the night with me on occasion. Zelda talked her sleep at times, and I was delighted when I heard her talking about the pitter patter of little feet.

I was so happy to see her when she woke up.

I decided I wanted to spend the rest of my life with this woman.

“Zelda” I started as I bent down on one knee, “I love you, and I want to wake up next to you for the rest of my life. Will you marry me?”

We married in the park the next day… Not too far from were we met.

It is definatly a good day!

“Wow, Zelda, you look beautiful! Come over here and lay next to me Mrs. Simopolis.” I said.

Zelda giggled and crawled in the bed.

I love listening to Zelda play the guitar. She really does have a talent for making music.

She was playing my favorite song when I got a call to solve a case.

“I love you sweetheart. I gotta run.”I said.

“I’ll see you soon!” Zelda replied.

I solved the case, thankfully it was an easy one, and headed straight home. Zelda was reading a book in the bedroom. She got up when she saw me walk in.

“Zeus, I have something to tell you. Um, well, we’re having a baby!”

“Oh Zelda, I can’t even tell you how happy I am!” I replied.

I must say, Zelda is a beautiful mother.

The next day I was working on a case with Mrs. Alto when I saw the ‘FOR SALE’ sign. The land was perfect. It reminded me of home. The ocean breeze tickled my nose.

I ran over and got the number. I was going to talk to Zelda when I got home.
